Why we created Speed Rally
Speed Rally is our love letter to the 8-bit era.
We’re hobby developers making this as a passion project, because we missed that kind of game today. Simple controls, fast rounds, no overthinking — just jump in and race.
We spent endless afternoons in our childhood playing John Anderson’s Rally Speedway on the C64 — tiny pixel tracks, pure arcade chaos, and instant fun. That spirit stuck with us for decades.
What makes it special is its simplicity – your car never stops accelerating. You don’t control the gas, only the brakes. It’s easy to pick up, instantly fun, and you’ll get the hang of it within seconds, no matter your skill level.
We’ve taken this proven arcade mechanic and brought it into the modern era — integrating full Steam leaderboards, achievements, and competitive online features, while still keeping the retro soul intact through pixel-style UI and classic visual charm. It’s nostalgia — but upgraded.
The best part though: Speed Rally truly shines when you play it together — especially in local multiplayer. Sitting next to each other, yelling, laughing and crashing on the couch… that’s exactly the feeling we want to bring back. Retro heart. Modern execution. Fun first.
